I have an hp laptop model 17-bs051od that I don't want to fix. The screen is cracked, half hanging off and the power jack on the inside barely connects. Can I take the RAM from the hp laptop model 17-bs051od and put it into the HP laptop 15 bs-1xx (my slow computer I use for work)? How do I do this without voiding the warranty?
Also, I cannot turn on the hp laptop model 17-bs051od to wipe the hard drive. What the best way to ensure there's no useful info on there?

The HP specs say both laptops use the same type and speed of RAM, so you SHOULD be able to do that -- however, the 115dx takes 8GB sticks and the 051od takes 2GB and 4GB sticks -- so the second might not work with the 8GB stick.
There would need to be access panels to remove the RAM, if there are not, you can still disassemble the cases, and that won't void any warranties as long as you don't damage anything.
You would also need to buy and wear a Grounding Strap when removing and inserting the RAM to ensure that you don't damage it with static electricity.
The best way to sanitize an existing drive, if you want to reuse it, is to connect it to a working PC, download and install MiniTool Partition Wizard on the PC, and use the option to Wipe the partitions. That overwrites them with ones or zeroes and removes all the data.
IF you don't want to reuse the drive, then take a hammer to the drive and crush it. That will render it useless.
