This is a peer-to-peer forum.
We do not work for or represent HP, so we are unable to reply on HP's behalf regarding the warranty terms and conditions.
I recommend you contact HP customer service and seek an official answer from HP.
Chapter 5 of the service manual indicates that installing memory should be done by an HP authorized service center.
Off the record, you will probably not void the warranty unless you broke something in the process of trying to upgrade the memory.
If you are planning on upgrading the drive or memory, do note that if your notebook ever needs warranty work, you must return the notebook to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for service.
