I would like to upgrade my D1G61UA#ABA's WiFi mini PCI-E card to one that supports 802.11AC. I understand that some HP laptops have a whitelist in BIOS that prevents cards to work on the laptop if the card is not whitelisted.
Can anyone tell me if this is the case for the D1G61UA#ABA (also known as 14-b124us)?
Thanks.

Hi:
Your notebook shouldn't have a BIOS whitelist.
Since your notebook has an Intel processor and chipset, you can upgrade to this AC card...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part #710661-001
The card is readily available on Amazon or eBay.
Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Just wanted to let the community know that I bought this item from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/312128007382
...and it worked!!! With the old WiFI NIC, I was getting somewhere around 11mbps download speeds. With this replacement NIC, I've gotten 240mbps downloads so far on my 300mbps cable modem setup.
Since I had to open the laptop, I took the opportunity to vacuum the dust off the motherboard and fan and also replace the aging HGST 500GB spinning drive w/ a Silicon Power 512GB SSD for $79 via Amazon as well.
Laptop is now much faster compared to the day it was first turned on. 🙂
Thank you Paul!
