I wonder if it should be possible to use an mSATA SSD drive by installing it in the mSATA slot?

Product number: LG673EA#AK8 (EliteBook 8760w)

I have inserted a mSATA SSD drive and it fits, but after boot the computer gives the following message:

Wireless Module not supported

The system has detected that  Wireless module installed in the system is not supported and disabled it.

WWAN Module ID (703)

Hopefully it is just a matter of configuration/drivers etc...

No it is a hardware barrier. Is the slot you put the mSATA drive into shown on p. 50 of the manual here?:

Service Manual

That port is for a WWAN (cellular modem) card only. Your laptop is in the Intel Core 2d generation era and the use of mSATA disks even for acceleration cache did not really catch on until the 3rd generation. The circuitry to see and make use of the mSATA disk is just not present in that laptop. Sorry.

The slot is visible (on the right of the RTC battery) on picture on page 51 in the service manual (couldn't really make sense of the picture on page 50).

Many thanks for answering.
