Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Laptop has been experiencing Wi-Fi issues lately such as disconnecting at random and so I thought I might aswell upgrade the WiFi adapter and add bluetooth. However I'm not sure what type of card I can replace it with as there are many standards different sizes.

Edit: This is the laptop manual.

Hi:

M.2 form factor wifi cards are not supported in your notebook.

Yours uses the Half Mini Card (HMC) form factor type.

Unfortunately, we have no feedback from other forum members who tried to upgrade that model series' wifi adapter to something better.

Your notebook may have a BIOS whitelist which prevents the installation of any other model wifi adapter other than the one that came with your notebook from working.

HP does not release any info on what notebook's had whitelists or not.

Your notebook was made around the time when most of them had the whitelists.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try this one which is listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual...

Atheros AR9565 802.11bgn 1x1 WiFi + BT4.0 combo Adapter   HP part number 690019-001.

You should be able to find the card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

There is no guarantee it will work but if it does, at least you will have Bluetooth.

The other cards listed in the manual such as the Ralink one have major issues with operating on W10.

If you want to try a dual band AC wifi card, you can see if this one works...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

Again...no guarantee it will work.
