Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Can I upgrade my HP Pavilion G4-2219tu laptop ram from 4GB to 8GB or 16GGB? It has intel core i3 processor. My laptop is so slow if I run adobe software, that is why I want to increase my ram. Please help me.

8 but not 16. Here is the Service Manual:

See pages 41 and 47-48 for upgrade "how to"
 
The specs do not say if your current 4 gb is 2 x 2 gb or 1 x 4 so open the service door and inspect before you buy anything. 
 
If you are lucky you have a single 4 gb module and an empty slot and only need one more of these:
 
 
If you have 2 x 2 you will need to discard them and install 2 of the above. I would definitely install a pair of the same-sized modules and don't mix so that you will have "dual channel" operation.
