HP Pavilion g6-2324tx Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I Have a HP Pavilion g6-2324tx Notebook PC with a 500GB SATA HDD.

HP Support (through chat) have said that this machine cannot be upgraded with a SSD.

       - I thought that as it has a SATA interface that I'd be OK.

HP Support also said that this machine will only handle HDDs upto 500GB and I can't even upgrade to a 1TB HDD.

Are both these statements true?

Hi,

Both statements are false. You can install an SSD (2.5" SATAIII) and it will improve everyday performance of your system a lot. You can also insert a 1TB hard drive or SSD. You can choose the brand you prefer. The Samsung 850evo is considered one of the best prize/performance.

On page 45 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive

You can also look at these HP videos (click on hard drive in list on left)

You will need to reinstall the OS either by using HP recovery disks, migrating an image or downloading the media creation tool from Microsoft (before replacing drive), running and creating a bootable pendrive with the OS on it. You can then use the pendrive to perform a clean install on PC.
