Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Pavilion au181na which I want to upgrade. I already know it's possible to upgrade the storage and RAM however I was wondering if I could upgrade the CPU? If so what would be the maximum upgrade?

Yes and no because you have to buy NEW System board (if available) which contains

(a) Motherboard,

(b) CPU (Processor),

(c) Video,

(d) Operating System

all 4 components are on one piece of hardware called System board. This would cost you nearly a new machine. Pages 48 of the following manual shows you a list of available System boards
