So after all that, the answer to your question is "no" in case you did not get that. 8 gigs is the max apparently.

Except when it is not. You have the 17t-s100 model and here is the manual:

Manual

Support for DDR3L-1600 Dual Channel Support for up to 16-GB maximum on-board system memory ● 16384 MB (8192 MB × 2)

So the ACTUAL answer is yes of course you can upgrade to 16 gigs without affecting your warranty.

You need 2 of these:

Memory modules (2; PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz): 8 GB 693374-005

Read pages 28-36 of the manual for "how to".

If in the USA get 2 of these and install or just one if you already have one 8 gig module:

@Jules333

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand you want to upgrade the memory modules on your pc,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Did you check the service and maintenance guide?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

Click here for the maintenance guide

Two memory slots, non accessible

Support for DDR3L-1600

Dual Channel

Support for up to 16-GB maximum on-board system memory

● 16384 MB (8192 MB × 2)

● 12288 MB (8192 MB + 4096 MB)

● 8192 MB (8192 MB × 1)

● 8192 MB (4096 MB × 2)

And to answer your question, no they do not void the warranty,

Let me know how that pans out
