HP Presario CQ56 NOTEBOOK PC
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

Can I upgrade my processor Duo Core T6600 in Compaq CQ56? Before, the original processor of this unit was Intel Pentium T4500, and I have DDR2 4Gb of Ram 800MHz. As my experienced using Pentium T4500 Processor, when I install Windows 10 Home & PRO and WINDOWS 11 Home (Year 2025) it runs well at first, but when I update the system in "WINDOWS UPDATE", the loading screen during restarting is always freeze. And when I try to restart it using pressing a button (Force Shutdown) it always freezes in Windows LOGO that is why I always try and try to install those Operating system, I also use modded OS but i am not sure if it is safe there so I came back to windows edition that is Genuine.

So going back, I learned that I could upgrade my processor since I already have SSD and 4Gb of Ram

800 MHz. Upon reviewing, I discovered that I could upgrade my processor. From Intel Pentium T4500 I upgraded it to Intel Core Duo T6600. And yep, this is what I am using right now while I am typing all of this story of mine. As my experience, there is no lag occurs and I can use my laptop smoothly using Windows 11 Home 22H2 only.

Right now, I am curious if I can upgrade my processor from Intel Core Duo T6600 with 800 MHz to Intel Core Duo T9300 with 800MHz. Upon reviewing, I actually have 3 Options. T9300 (800MHz, budget meal), T9500 (800MHz, very expensive for me), and lastly T9300 (1K+MHz, not recommended i think). I will choose T9300 and I want to clear it here if it can read it by my unit? Can I also upgrade my ram from 4GB dual channel ram t 8Gb?

Hi:

The best processor you can install in your notebook would be the Pentium T9500.

The T9300 would also work fine.

The Intel GL40 chipset will only support a maximum of 2 x 2 GB of memory.

You can also upgrade to W11 23H2 but that would be the max because none of the processors support SSE 4.2 which is a new processor requirement Microsoft added for W11 24H2 and newer.
