Pavilion DV7-6163us
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can I upgrade the Pavilion DV7-6163us Keyboard to a backlit Keyboard from DV7-7000 Series Laptop / DV7-7100 Series / DV7-7200 Series?

I am aware that the Pavilion DV7-6163us did not come with a backlit-keyboard as an option. BUT I was wondering if the backlite keyboards from the DV7-7000/7100/7200 series would work?

Thank you!

Hi @AVOIT

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you

Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.

I'm afraid you cannot replace a  DV7-6163us Keyboard with a  backlit Keyboard DV7-7000 as that is not recommended or supported by HP, the same could cause compatibility issues with other devices designed to work without the Keyboard with backlight.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for the reply.

You said " ...could cause compatibility issues with other devices designed to work without the Keyboard with backlight"

What other devices?!

HP does not recommend you switch parts that are not compatible as it may render the device unstable.
