HP 250 G6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings, Friends.

Please, I would love to know the possibility of my upgrading the processor of my machine HP 250 G6 Notebook PC to Core i5-7200U or Core i7-7500U.

[Personal Information Removed] Product Number 1WY51EA#
The motherboard is HP baseboard 8328 version 23.47.

The RAM is currently 4GB X 2 = 8GB. I plan also to upgrade to 8GB x 2=16GB.

Are there additional things I would need to consider as I consider this upgrade?

Thank you.

1. CPU or Processor: No, processor is built in (or integrated) on its system board and the series ONLY has following options

System board (includes replacement thermal materials):
All system boards use the following part numbers:
xxxxxx-001: Non-Windows operating systems
xxxxxx-601: Windows 10 operating system
For use in models with discrete graphics memory:

  •  Intel Core i5-7200U processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory 926248-xx1
  •  Intel Core i3-6006U processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory 926249-xx1

For use in models with UMA graphics memory:

  • Intel Core i7-7500U processor 926246-xx1
  • Intel Core i5-7200U processor 926247-xx1
  • Intel Core i3-6006U processor 926249-xx1
  • Intel Pentium N4200 processor 934736-001
  • Intel Pentium N3710 processor 926251-xx1
  • Intel Celeron N3350 processor 934737-001
  • Intel Celeron N3060 processor 926252-xx1

2. RAM: You can use compatible RAM such as https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct10583864 ((DDR4-2400 bridge to DDR4-2133). You need 2 pieces.

Thank you so much for the information.

So, I will be getting 2 pieces of 8GB RAM to enhance its performance.

I will also be getting an SSD. What do you recommend, please?

Many thanks.

The series does NOT support dual storage. What do you have now ?

This is the current memory: ST500LT012-1DG142 - 465.76 GB

I have a 5OO GB HDD.

I hope it can be replaced with something faster and better (I mean an SSD)? If yes, what SSD would be compatible?

Many thanks for your support.
