Hi @Saradhi,

Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that you require assistance with M.2 SSD upgrades. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂

Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. )

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you check the product specs of the computer?
  • Did you check the service manual of the computer?

For now please check these links:

  • Product specs link: http://hp.care/2xv5fxd
  • Service manual link: http://hp.care/2xwTx5c
  • It appears not to have an M.2 slot. I am being honest about it without beating around the bush by keeping your best interest in mind.
  • However, SSD upgrades might be possible as for certain processors MSATA SSD of 256GB and 512 GB work and have been tested by HP.
  • Please refer to pages 5,23,26,31,33, 41,42 which give clear information about the type of supported SSDs for the computer models along with part numbers and information on how to remove the hard drive and installing the SSD.

Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance. However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician like Best Buy or Staples before proceeding to upgrade the unit.

So please contact a local Best Buy or staples technician and perform the upgrade so that there are no compatibility issues with the SSD for your computer and everything works smoothly.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
