I bought a used HP ZBook 15v G5 laptop from a reputable seller, but my problem is the Adapter doesn't charge my computer, unless I have it OFF. It does not charge, while I'm using it. I'm also getting a message that the adapter I have is not powerful enough for this computer which means the seller did a bait and switch. I tried ordering one back in May, but due to Covid issues, I canceled the order after 30 days. Can I use an Adapter with that is 15(u) G5, instead of 15V G5??
I saw something on Amazon, but they said the adapter won't be here until Nov-December sometime and I need to use the laptop NOW. Thanks.

Sorry, you have to try eBay, for example
https://www.ebay.com.au/p/8016322794
I've got few notebooks around me now some are very old (8 to 11 years old) and their chargers keep going even their batteries died. Normal users do not buy expensive zBook machines which are for designers, serious video professionals ...
Regards.

There are 2 sets for each machine:
1. HP ZBook 15v G5 Mobile Workstation
HP Smart AC adapter (PFC, slim, 4.5 mm)
150 W part # 917649-850
120 W part # 710415-001
2. HP ZBook 15u G5 Mobile Workstation
AC adapter _non-PFC, 4.5 mm
65 W HP Smart AC Travel adapter part # 693716-001
65 W HP Smart AC adapter, EM part # 913691-850
65 W HP Smart AC adapter, for use in Argentina part # 710340-850
45 W HP Smart AC adapter, 2 prong part # 742436-001
45 W HP Smart AC adapter part # 741727-001
45 W, wall mount, 3 pin, USB-C part # 860210-850
As you can see you can't use a charger which is under 120W for your machine. In some cases you can BUT it won't have enough power to charge and tun your machine at the same time.
Max power for the second machine is only 65W, from 65W to 120W or 150W is a long way, it is not compatible. Your machine may require 150W and the existing unit is only 120W that why it only charges your machine when off.
Amazon has it right now

Thank you so much Banhein for your help!
Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't have that adapter in stock and doesn't know when they'll get it again which seems to be a problem. I had no idea when I purchased this used machine for $900 that they would give me an adapter that didn't work. No wonder the owner wanted to get rid of it. I got it for video editing purposes and was advised that HP's laptop workstations were excellent for this sort of thing. How on earth am I going to edit for two to three hours, if I can't keep it charged??
I tried to order a new adapter from HP's third party sellers division, but all they sent me was the cord and told me they had no idea when the adapter would be here.
I don't understand. Isn't the ZBook 15v G5 workstation a popular machine? Why is it so hard to get the matching charger??
