Hello
if it's a HP 90W USB-C Power supply you can use it without any problem.
90W is the maximum power it can provide and notebook will use just the power he needs to charge the battery.
The problem with an not-HP power supply is that you may not know that it's compliant with PowerDelivery profiles.
USB-C has a commiunication protocol. so when you connect a power supply on USB-C port, the computer and the power supply start a communication. computer tell to power supply what he needs, powe supply tell what it could provide. if there is a match , notebook is charge with the right voltage and current. if the external power supply is not able to set the right voltage, it could provide an overvoltage and burn the motherboard.
Bye
