I recently bought a second monitor, so I want to mount my laptop beneath my desk and use it with the lid closed, connected to 2 external monitors. However, above the keyboard there's a mesh that isn't for the speakers, so I'm assuming it's an air intake. As I use my Omen to render video, I'm wondering if it'll be alright to use it with the lid closed or if I'll be effectively blocking and important air intake. I've run some tests, but it's really difficult to pinpoint differences. The CPU temp can normally go from 90 to 105 when rendering, and it seems to be about the same with the lid closed. (GPU seems to always be in check, even when rendering GPU-intensive stuff.) Before, when I tested differences using external fans under the laptop vs not using them, I noticed no difference at all, so I really don't know how the Omen's cooling system works--and I can't seem to find any resources online either.

Hi, @alpumi I tried looking for resources to help out but there is limited information about this online.
However, if you need to close the lid of the laptop without it shutting down, change the power settings to "Do nothing" when I close the lid.
Also, if you are worried about air intake keep the laptop in a cool place where it can receive good air as you close the lid and use the system.

Hi, @charlietuah1, thanks for your response!
Yeah, I don't know why there are very few resources for certain topics that I, at least, find essential.
For instance, I had to basically go blindly into configuring my Omen to correctly work with WOL. In the end, I was able to do so... But don't ask me to give you the steps, as I'm sure I got there by chance! 😅
Anyway, I currently have my Omen configured to work perfectly with the lid closed (I'm using it like that now), and as I mentioned above I can turn it on from Shutdown state (S5) sending a WOL packet from my phone, which is great! And I have it mounted on my wall, with the bottom facing out to give it plenty of air.
BUT I worry I might be decreasing its lifespan if the closed lid will make it work at increased temperatures... I'll continue looking for an answer. In the meantime maybe I should keep it partially open, like an upsidedown V...
