Can the memory and / or hard drive be upgraded?
I am researching laptops for someone who lost everything, including husband ☹️, in a fire. Someone has donated this to her and I am trying to figure out if it can. She doesn't game but writes music on it. The current specs will be fine (16 / 512) but it might need to be upgraded later - the music software is a hog.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info and the drive capacities HP offered in the model series.
If a 1 TB NVMe SSD isn't enough, you could go up to a 4 TB drive.
The notebook also has support for two M.2 NVMe SSD's so you could install 1 TB drives in each slot, for example...one for the operating system and programs and one for file storage.
