I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much ram this laptop can support? I know it only has 2 slots but I was wanting to upgrade to the maximum amount supported. Thank you for any and all help.

Please post the product number for your notebook.

Run the Windows system information app.

The product number will be reported on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.

The product id is 6G428UA#ABA this is from the bottom of the laptop. I think it supports 32 gig overall but I want to be sure before purchasing ram. Thank you for replying.

You're very welcome.

The product number you posted does not exist in the HP part surfer database.

If your notebook has an Intel core processor, it has two memory slots and can probably support 2 x 16 GB of memory, although the Crucial memory report indicates it can support up to 2 x 32 GB of memory.

HP only has the service manual for the original model series which has outdated information:

If you are buying DDR4-3200 MHz memory, make sure that it is CL22.

You can also run this report to see what Windows indicates:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

I had the same problem trying to find any info on this laptop. The prodcut id number I posted also came up on msinfo. I ran the command for the memory max an it came up as this 33554432 which I believe converts to 32 gig.
