Can I add a DDR4 ram to my laptop Pavilion 15-N201AX. It currently 1 of 2 slots in use with an 8GB DDR3 RAM?Plz let me know

OK.

No, you can not add DDR4 RAM as it will not fit in the slot and not compatible with the system.

Hi,

Yes, your notebook supports max 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz (2x8GB)

So, you can add another 8GB module in the empty slot.

Example:

You should also consider replacing the Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give a great boost to the everyday performance of the PC.
