Yes, I would assume so.

Therefore, the Samsung 860 EVO can take advantage of the 3.0gb/s standard.:smileyhappy:

Glad we were able to sort it out,

Hello ChrisChris78,

Yes that Samsung 860 EVO, a great choice, would work.

What is said in the computer's Maintenance and Service Guide is simply what HP has tested and confirmed to work with the computer; so although there's a slight chance of incompatibility, it doesn't really make sense that it wouldn't work.

However, I do want to inform you that the laptop uses a SATA I interface and therefore would only be able to take advantage of 1.5Gb/s.

Hope this helps,

Eddy

Hello ChrisChris78,

I am starting to believe the computer uses SATA II, but I do want to point out that what you have shown is the hard drive's bandwidth, not the motherboard. On the other hand, I have found it uses SATA I on the computer's Maintenance and Service Guide, Crucial's System advisor tool, and HP PartSurfer.

However, I think we should look deeper into the problem.

In HWINFO, navigate in the device tree to Bus > PCI Bus #0. Under PCI Bus #0, click on the SATA AHCI Controller device. Details about this device will be displayed in the right pane. Scroll through this pane and you will find a heading "SATA Host Controller" with the Interface Speed Supported.

If it does not show up, please use SiSoftware Sandra or CPUID to find the motherboard supported interface.

Regards,

Eddy
