Can i remove my inbuilt battery and still use my laptop via using the AC adapter(charger)?

My inbuilt battery has started swelling and does not charge past 30%. And while doing some heavy tasks like gaming the battery drains even while plugged in, and after battery drainage to about 6% the laptop just shutdowns itself. I don't want to change the battery as this laptop is already a few years old and i am thinking of buying a new one in a couple of months. But i can't do any gaming or programming with this battery issue.

So if i remove the internal battery will i be able to use the laptop via the AC adapter plugged in?

You can but the battery also serves as the RTC/CMOS battery so you might lose time and BIOS settings. Obviously the only way to not use the internal battery is to remove it. Post back if you need help with that.

What kind of problems may occur if I lose those settings? 

If I manually update the system time each time I boot the laptop than I think the time settings will not cause any problems, or will it?

None really as long as you understand and are willing to reset. You can install an internet time clock synchronizer and the system time will be reset every time you go on the internet. You likely will have no issues with the BIOS default settings.
