My current broken one is the L85893-601. The physical aspects of the board seems to fit the same, but some components of the board differ slightly. I'd really like the M29208-601 since it has a second ram slot, whereas the L85893-601 just has an empty space where one could have been added to the board. I found a L85893-601 for sale, and it says it's compatible with HP 15-dw0083wm and the M29208-601 says it's compatible with HP 15-DW (without the extra 0083wm listed). I really want some kind of confirmation that i can use the different board, before i buy it though, and customer service was no help at all.

Here's the problem with what you want to do...

Your HP 15-dw0083wm PC came with a Pentium processor, and unless things have changed, notebooks with the Pentium and Celeron processors have no fans.

The M29208-601 motherboard has an Intel i3-1115G4 processor for which you need to install a fan and heat sink.

If you want to upgrade the motherboard, you will have to find the parts you need, and your notebook's service manual does not include parts for notebooks with the Intel 11th gen core processors and is the only one available.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

That motherboard is used in the 15-dw3000 model series and here is the parts list from one of those that use the motherboard.

HP PartSurfer

You would need the fan (assuming your notebook does not have a fan as I indicated above) and the heat sink.
