Hi,
It will not affect the battery. Yes, you can install the P1 in the notebook of your desired capacity (no limit), You can see that Crucial also offers it as compatible:
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-da0327tu/CT14018613
On page 47 of the service manual, you can see the steps to install the drive
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06147959
You will need to install the OS on the SSD. It will give a great performance gain in everyday use to the PC.
Hope it helps,
David

Yes your laptop will accept such an upgrade. Here is the Service Manual:
Start on p. 38 to remove the bottom cover and inside you see this:
M.2 slot marked in red
I am sure the Crucial is a good product but my own preference is for the Samsung 970 Evo or Evo Plus M.2 NVME product.
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Don't worry about the notches in the SSD. M.2 is M.2 and either SATA or PCIE/NVME will fit into the slot it's a question of what works with your motherboard. In your case either kind (2 gap or one) will work.
Look at the picture. There is a place for a hard drive and a place for an M.2 SSD and you most definitely can have both. I can't speak for the competence of the techs you have spoken to.
