Can memory be upgraded on 17-CN2283ST?

Hi:

Yes, the memory can be upgraded but HP only has the service manual for the older 17-cn1xxx model series on your notebook's support page.

HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000 - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with 1 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 memory, so the info in the service manual would still apply to your notebook.

If you want to see if your notebook can support more than 16 GB of memory, you can run this command:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Thank you for the info.

Says laptop can accommodate up to 64 gb.

Does increasing the ram make the cpu run hotter. Can problems arise if increasing the ram.

You're very welcome.

Not that I know of.

I've always maxed out the memory in my notebook PCs and never had a problem with overheating.
