Can i upgrade my Compaq Presario CQ40 cpu from Intel Pentium T4300 to Intel Core 2 Duo T9500?

 

The socket is Socket P (478)

The chipset is GL40

That might be possible, since the processor has a FSB speed of 800 MHz, which is the max the Gl40 chipset can handle.

 

However it would be a complete experiment on your part since the service manual does not list the T9500 as a supported processor.

Chapter 1, page 1 has the list of supported processors.

 

The manual indicates the fastest supported processor that has an 800 MHz FSB is the T6600.
