Yes, if your notebook has a 2.5" mechanical hard drive, you can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

 

Below is the link to the service manual:

 

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 255 G7 Notebook PC

 

I don't believe that there is a M.2 slot for a SATA SSD unless your notebook came with one from the factory, but you can open it up and check.
