Product: Hp compaq presario cq40
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

I have a hp compaq presario cq40 laptop , and I need to upgrade it for my college purpose , can I upgrade my ram and processors of my device or anything that help me for increasing my pc performance.  Please help me I don't have my budget to buy new one.

Hi:

 

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

 

c01531211.pdf (hp.com)

 

Chapter 1 has the processor and memory upgrade info.

 

If your notebook has an Intel processor, you can only install one of the supported Intel processors.

 

If your notebook has an AMD processor, you can only install one of the supported AMD processors.

 

Let me know if your notebook has an Intel Celeron processor, because if it does, none of the Intel processors listed will work.
