HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I recently bought this new pc (I have 15s fq5009nl) and since the computer is extendable up to 16 GB RAM, I wanted to know if it was possible to do so, adding another 8 GB, without voiding the warranty. Is there a special flap under the casing or do I have to completely disassemble it? Would removing the case invalidate the warranty? If I can't do it, who could?

The pc has two ram slots, both of which are occupied by 4gb ram, so to get to 16gb I would have to disassemble both rams and fit 2 more 8gb ones. (I found some Crucial ram that meet the required specifications).

Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.

If you ever have to send in your laptop for warranty service, keep the original memory in a place where it can be found and reinstalled before sending it in.

If you send in a laptop for warranty with upgrades installed such as memory or an SSD, it will be returned to the original state and the upgrades will not be returned to you. That is just a heads-up. I think that the entire laptop industry follows that protocol.

Did you made an error in identifying the notebook in the very first part of your post?

AFAIK it is not an HP 15-D000.  Is your request about a 15s fq5009nl or the 15-D5000

Your laptop is actually capable of having 64GB of installed compatible memory.

Here is a hyperlink to compatible Crucial memory products specifically  for your laptop

Upgrading the laptop won't violate the warranty as long as you do not damage it.

yes, i think that the website has misidentified the model of my pc, I confirm it's a 15s-fq5009nl; and i just wanted to know if the upgrade of the ram would have invalidated the warranty. You say that the upgrade will not invalidate the warranty as long as i not make any damange to the other component. Thanks for the help.
