CAN I USE 130W CHARGER ON 90W LAPTOP?
PROVIDED OUTPUT VOLTAGE IS SAME FOR BOTH CHARGERS ,BUT CURRENT IS DIFFERENT
As the recommended input (AS ON LAPTOP MOTHERBOARD/below battery) is 18.5V x 4.86 = 90W
I worry that more current can burn the power circuit etc .Also the model is old and its pats would not be available .
Had anyone done that before on any notebook?
Please describe your experience and the consequences.
Need of professional help please !!

The laptop will only draw the current it needs so you will not fry anything. You can use an adapter with more amps and the same voltage and the same physical connection without any problems. It will even charge the battery faster. However, please give the HP Part numbers of the 130w charger you propose to use. Before I tell you its OK I want to be sure it is the same connector and voltage as the specific 90w adapter recommended for your laptop.

This is why I asked. The 130w is a DELL. Good grief did you think maybe that was a relevant piece of information??? Also it is 19.5v and the HP is 18.5 or 19. If you want honest advice you have to provide honest information. I am done here. Good luck.

Hi Huffer,
You knew that HP does not manufactures 130w power adapters . that's why you asked me the part number.
I am sorry for that ,but i cant spend unnecessary on stupid things. And the second reason is that I can charge both laptops(hp and dell) with same power brick. Also this is convenient in travelling .
Also I don't think that 0.5V will make a huge difference.
Good Bye ,Have a nice day!!
