I want to run software which I am told requires:
Requirements
* Windows 10.( which I have)
* ideally i7 CPU but not essential (I have ryzen 5)
* The screen size (in pixels) must be at least 1600 x 900. Recommend 1920 x 1080. (which I have)
* 16 GB or more of RAM memory (which I dont)
My PC is:
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.10 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (5.92 GB usable)
Will it run? - I have 46GB free storage.
I don't really want to buy another laptop - this is 15 months old and still has 2 years warranty...
Can I use an external hard drive to run the software?
What solution would you advise?
Thanks in advance!

You're welcome.
Yes a lot of modern notebooks (especially the smaller sized ones) are not intended to be ugraded. It is a nice notebook. You could try using it since it has the Vega graphics and acessing pictures and (DICOM) files should not really represent a problem.
Interesting work you do. I myself am part of a nonprofit org that deals with cleaning the coast and seabed.
Hope HP can help you out in some way.
Take care,
David

Hi,
It is not possible to upgrade the RAM in your notebook as it is integrated on the motherboard (chips soldered). There are no slots. So you will need to see if the software will run with 8GB.
It is possible to upgrade the storage. So you could insert an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD with a higher capacity.
If you work often with software which requires a lot of RAM and powerful CPU, maybe you could look into a used powerfull Desktop.

Hope it helps,

Hi David, thanks for the response, I need a laptop due to need to use the software on-site where we help horses (the software is used to assess horses hoof photos and even x-ray images). I'm actually quite upset as this laptop is great but I wasn't aware I couldn't increase RAM when I purchased it. I manage a non-profit organisation, who own the laptop, and we need the RAM to deliver our aims and provide paid for services... we can't afford a new laptop to replace this one. I have asked HP for their help and hope they can offer a solution?. .
Thanks again!
