340s G7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a monitor (LG 35WN75C-B which have a USB-C port supports PD) and I want to use it as external monitor for my HP 340s G7 using USB-C port. However, it says "display connection might be limited" and I don't know why. I am wondering the USB-C does not support video, am I correct?

One more thing, can I use USB-C port to charge the laptop from LG monitor?

Thanks for you help.

The specs does not say much

  • (1) USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1
  • (2) USB 3.1 Type-A Gen 1
  • (1) HDMI 1.4
  • (1) Headphone/microphone combo jack
  • (1) AC power port

And page 2 of the manual says (1) USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port (supports data transfer) that means it does not support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine
  • Connect to an external monitor with / without hub/dock/adapter

Regards.
