I have my laptop that is currently use with 1TB hard disk. I want to know that can I have another disk like a SSD as a second disk in my laptop and do I need to backup the data or not?

Yes there is an M.2 slot or at least there should be. Start on p. 36 of the Service Manual here to remove the back cover:
M.2 slot is highlighted in the dark black circle here:
M.2 slot in large black circle
You will note the 15-bc2xxx models are not expreslly listed in this Manual but its the Manual HP has posted on your Model's home page. Open first then buy the upgrade disk to be sure the slot is present. You can use either a SATA or NVME M.2 SSD. You can clone the existing drive and Windows installation over to the new SSD or do a clean install on it and it would not remove your existing files if you do it right.

The SSD serves little purpose if you do not put Windows on it. Easy way is to pull the hard drive out put the SSD in and use a Media Creation Tool thumb drive to install Windows onto the SSD or make an HP recovery thumb drive. You can also clone the hard drive (copy it) over to the SSD if the SSD is large enough. Post back or start another thread if you want to go into all that.
