HP ZBook 15 G6 Mobile Workstation

I can not remove the back cover on my HP ZBook 15 G6.

I have followed the standard tutorials and instructions which say to slide the latch on the back over and then slide the cover off but this does not work.

The latch moves but even with a lot of force the cover does not budge, There are no screws or anything like that I can see.

Why is this? Am i missing something? Does HP glue these shut so they can't be upgraded?

Any advice would be appreciated.

No, no glue. I normally use a card (same size with a credit card but much thinner. You can use plastic non-marring prying tool. I saw it on Jaycar another day

Thank you for your advice.

The tutorial does not mention anything about having to pry anything off. It seems to just slide.

Why is prying necessary?

This is a problem with two of the same model of laptop I have here.

Look for hidden screws on the bottom cover.  Usually they are hidden under the rubber strips on the bottom.

Yes, you will have to pry off the cover.  On cheaper consumer models, this is challenging as you must go slowly to avoid cracking the plastic case (business models are metal and much easier to work with).  I use old credit cards, and I use several and leave them in the edges.  It is like prying off a bike tire to repair a flat.

Don't force things, if it isn't easy, you missed a screw or two 🙂

There are no screws mentioned in the tutorial video. https://youtu.be/7392w2tapP4

Also there are no screws under any of the strips, I have checked closely. I will check again but I don't understand if removing the cover involved finding hidden screws and prying, then why aren't these mentioned in the video? Does anyone out there have this particular model of laptop and experienced this?

I am wondering does anyone from HP look at these discussions?
