14-fq0033dx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I purchased this laptop 14-fq0033dx from best buy. On their site it says 1 8gb RAM slot however on the HP side it says 2 4gb RAM. I want to make sure I have 2 slots and want to upgrade to 16gb RAM(2 8's). Can someone recommend which ones crucial or HP branded and is it DIY with a video provided would help. Thanks.

Hi:

The specs indicate it comes with 1 x 8 GB of memory.

HP Laptop 14-fq0033dx Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that the notebook has two memory slots and supports 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below to see what speed memory HP installed in your notebook.

The specs indicate the memory runs at 2400 MHz but HP may have installed a faster memory chip due to what speed memory they had on hand at the time.

Crucial indicates this chip is compatible.

If HP installed a DDR4-2666 MHz chip, then get this one instead so the specs more closely match.

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA266 | Crucial.com

The memory is going to run at 2400 MHz regardless.
