I cannot see the letters or number keys because the keyboard color is silver with backlit white letters & numbers. Can anything be done about this keyboard? I need more contrast to see it.

I understand that notebook has an issue keyboard, silver with white backlighting. 

 

 

The specs do not say specifically. The manual indicates that both backlit and non-backlit keyboards were offered by HP. See p. 17:

Also, see p. 12:

 

NOTE:On select products, the f5 action key turns the keyboard backlight feature off or on.

 

So if F5 or fn + f5 does not turn on a backlight then you likely do not have it. If you have no key on the keyboard that looks like the 5th from the left on p. 12 then you also can tell you do not have a backlit keyboard. Before you ask, retrofitting a backlit keyboard
