Linux

Hello,

I'm kind of new to Linux and having problem with the backlight keyboard for my laptop. Right now, my keyboard is backlit for 30 seconds after a key is pressed, then it turns off. In Windows touching the touchpad or pressing any key on the keyboard would activate the backlight back, but when I switched to Linux Mint, I can't activate the backlight with the touchpad only with a random key on the keyboard. I'd like to be able to swipe the touchpad to activate the light, so I can see what I'm typing if that is possible.

Thanks.

Perennial problem with Linux. HP installs a set of system drivers that support user interface things like backlight and screen brightness adjustment. Sometimes these same things work in Linux; many times they do not. There used to be, for example, a system support package for Thinkpads when used with Linux and you may find on the Linux Mint support sites that someone has ported the HP Windows drivers over to Linux or created a series of commands such as this:

This will give you an opportunity to dive in and sharpen your Linux command line skills.
