OMEN by HP 15-ax212nl Laptop PC

Hi, I'm considering installing an M.2 NVMe SSD on my laptop, but I don't understand if my motherboard (HP 8259) supports NVMe Gen 3 or Gen 4. For this, but also for other technical information, I would need the datasheet of my OMEN 15-ax212nl. I couldn't find it online. Where can I find it? Thanks.

Hi:

Your notebook's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.

Since notebook processors are integral parts of the motherboard, you can look up the PCIe generation of the motherboard by looking up the processor specs on the applicable AMD or Intel websites.

The Intel specs for your notebook's processor indicate the PCIe generation is 3.0.

Look under the Expansion Options section.

Below is the link to the service manual.

Perfect, thanks for your reply! Another question: on page 15 of the service manual, in the table, I only see the 256GB and 512GB formats for NVMe. Does this mean I can't insert a 1TB or larger M.2 NVMe SSD?

You're very welcome.

Normally the drive capacities listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

The Crucial SSD report for your notebook indicates that they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB for it.
