I have a new HP Envy 17t tghat shows an uninstalled device in device manager. I shows as Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED. I can't seem to find a driver to clear the error in device manager.

I found the solution to the problem. There are two Intel Smart Sound Technology devices listed under "System Devices".
The first is the Audio Cotroller and the second is called OED. I was unable to get the OED device woking with any of the drivers on the computer or that I downloaded. There were 4 drivers for the Audio Controller. What finally worked was matching the driver dates on both devices and that let the OED device install and start.
The only issue I have found, now that all the devices are working, is that the sound panel (under control panel) will not play sounds by pressing the test button. However, all applications seems to play fine. So I'm not going to worry about this. Maybe a future driver update will fix the test sound problem. But it is a very minor issue.

Hi Again, Okay, I fixed my problem. I just went ahead and updated the driver on the other Intel Smart Sound SST Audio Controller. Although the driver dates don't match, after updating both drivers, they now appear correctly in the device manager.
Thanks for the heads up!

Your solution works for me! I could't install "OED" sound drivers, and "Windows Defender" kept warning me about it had to be updated. Your idea of updating another sound driver under "System devices" solved the problem with the OED driver. Now everything (headphones and built-in speakers) works.
Getting the sound works properly is a really cumbersome process in my Probook 470 G4 /Windows 10 Pro , so I really appreciate your solution.
