I've tried every possible way of installing the next Windows 10 update (v2004), but every time after rebooting an error occurs during BOOT operation;
"
We couldn't install Windows 10
We've set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows 10.
0xC1900101 - 0x20017
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation
"
I've tried all online solutions to this, but to no avail. The panther setuperr log shows 2 errors:
Error [0x060675] IBS GetDeviceIDStringsFromINF:Error getting device ids, or converting them to strings. [0xE0000102][gle=0xe0000102]
Error CBS Failed to load Session:3644_1136515 [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]
If I'm understanding correctly, it seems that since Windows 10 v2004 they have removed drivers needed for certain hardware in my notebook.
Is there any way I could fix this, or do I really need a new laptop in order to update?

Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer, would be to back up any files you want to keep, have any program installation files you need to reinstall programs, and then perform a clean install of W10 21H1 by making bootable installation media with the media creation tool from the link below.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
Hopefully, it will work that way, and you will have the most current version of W10.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Hello Paul,
Thanks for replying. I've tried all methods I could find on the internet and even messaged Microsoft support. I've tried installing to Windows v2004, 20H2 and the dev updates for Windows 11. All of these failed with the same error. I'm only able to successfully install Windows 10 v1909 and earlier.
I'm wondering if someone knows what component the error from panther is pointing to.
Edit. I've also installed the hp support app to update all drivers and bios to their most recent versions. However, even that didn't work (I was really putting my hope on that bios update)
