Your machine currently has 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA, yes, you can add M,2 SSD drive to your machine using the following fully compatible SSD
https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-cs0053cl/CT13044906
Following steps are the shortest way to get this upgrade
(a) Buy new M.2 SSD, I recommend the above fully compatible one
(b) Clone existing HDD to SSD
(c) Remove HDD and install SSD
(d) Run machine with only SSD for few days,
(e) Format old HDD and put it back
Now your machine has dual storage.
Regards.

I normally use an old dock with a paid software to clone. In your case please use
(a) Buy an adapter which is similar to the following one:
(b) Mount new SSD to the adapter
(c) Run clone software on computer and select clone full HDD.
There are MANY free software around, please use one of the following ones
https://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-drive-cloning-software.htm
I know the first and the 3rd software on the list. They are good for cloning.
Regards.
