HP 15-ac152sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All ,

I have a  HP 15-ac152sa laptop , of late its acting a bit slow & when i did  diagnostic Test on the same it tell me below :

Hard  Drive Short DST Check  : FAILED

Failure ID : GPG8GO-7SCAMJ -XD7WMF-60VN03

Reading about the same tells me Hard Disk has to be replaced  - what i wan to understand are two things  :

1. Do I really need to replace the Hard Disk to fix this error

2. If yes , can i replace the Hard Disk with SSD - 1TB  now since  the laptop came with  2 TB 5400 rpm SATA .

Will appreciate quick support folks 🙂

Thanks

Hi:

If you can't boot into Windows the hard drive would have to be replaced.

Before buying a new drive, you can always try reinstalling W10 on the failed hard drive and hope by some miracle that it was just a corrupt operating system.

If W10 won't install on the existing drive, then yes you can replace the 2 TB mechanical hard drive with a 1 TB 2.5" SSD.
