So i have bought the HP Laptop 15q-dy0xxx, a relatively new model which i noticed has a not so good GPU (It's an igpu amd radeon vega 3 ). initially i had bought it for graphical purposes(not gaming, basically 3d modelling and such), then as my syllabus advanced(i'm a student btw) they started give tutorial for video editing ,animations etc . which i found out that it my laptop is not up to, so i discussed with my friend who had the same issue and he said to install an external graphics card .
i researched abt it and found out u need an pci-e port for it, and i don't whether this laptop has it.
So i'm just asking for advice on how to overcome this situation and i'm afraid to check it myself since im new to hardware and there r no hp certified stores in my vicinity.
So conclude this, i wanted to know whether i can setup an external gpu and if so what gpu's do y'all recomend for video editing and stuff.(i have 12gb ram so the ram part is covered and as for the processor, i will tackle that another day).

Notebooks do not have external PCIe ports. That would be a desktop term.
You should have bought a notebook with a Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processor and a Discrete video adapter with 4-8 GB of VRAM.
What is the ProdID of your notebook?
Look at the bottom among the tiny letters and locate the ProdID and post it in your next reply.
Purchasing an external GPU is going to be an expensive option.
You should have purchased a notebook that has a Thunderbolt 3 port.
If you just purchased it, you should return it and purchase a notebook that has the processor and external ports that you need.
What you need is something on the order of an Omen 15 Gaming notebook or an HP Spectre 15-ch000 x360. Both have the capabilities you need for 3D or even for connection to an eGPU .
Your notebook does not have a high-speed USB port capable of streaming data and graphics. Thunderbolt 3 USB ports are what eGPU products need.
