Why?

Because both the service manual and the crucial memory report for your notebook indicate 16 GB is the max.

Yes, in theory the Skylake processor and chipset should support 2 x 16 GB of memory, but I am in no position to gamble with your money, when two trusted sources indicate that 2 x 16 GB of memory is not supported.

If you want to experiment with 2 x 16 GB of memory, that's completely up to you.

Hi:

It depends on what processor your notebook has.

If it has an Intel core processor, then it has two memory slots, and you can install 2 x 8 GB of memory in there.

If it has an Intel Pentium or Celeron processor, then it has one memory slot, and the max is 1 x 8 GB of memory.

You can find this information in chapter 1 of the service manual at the link below...

what is windows 10 Pro

Having Windows 10 Pro means that if your PC's hardware supports it, W10 Pro will allow you to install as much as 512 GB of memory.

But that is not the issue here.  It is the hardware limitation of the PC that is the issue.

HP and Crucial say 16 GB is the max.

Intel says the processor and chipset can take 32 GB max, so again, it would be a gamble on your part to install 32 GB of memory.
