If you used the USB HP Recovery media to perform a factory image recovery on the M.2 SSD, there should be a recovery partition there.

That was why I suggested disconnecting the legacy disk before performing the factory image recovery.

During the factory image recovery process to completion.  the F11 key should then point to the recovery partition and HP Recovery manager image that is in the recovery partition. That will give you access to the HP recovery manager when powering on the notebook.

Try disconnecting the legacy disk for a test.

1. Boot to Windows 10 and then in the magnifying glass icon typing recovery manager.

If the OS now knows there is a recovery partition in the new M.2 image you should see an HP Recovery mamnager icon above. Click on it and the HP Recovery Manager should be invoked.

You can do this without making any changes to the OS and the partitions on the M.2 SSD.

Thanks for the reply again. And yes the recovery manager is present in the m.2. must've missed it after a long day trying to figure things out.

Anyway it's working now after some testing, no issues so far. Thanks for your help Erico! Much appreciated!

Re: your query on the legacy disk. You can use Disk Management to format the legacy disk.

You're welcome!  🙂
