Hi This has been a Very difficult laptop to install any windows after a compete disk wipe, but I have managed to succeed after countless hours,, but now i'm in win10 pro, I cannot upgrade my f.05 bios to anything ATM,.
The last listed was F.56 rev A
but when I install in admin, it says this is not for your computer, and others just have the upgrade button greyed out ?!
I have checked in the bios ,, everything is as normal (As in Extremely Basic), no admin or user passwords.. it would seem as if there is some disallowed bios upgrade, but the existing f.05 does not show any signs of such sorts.. it seems it was one of the first production BIOSES ?

Hi @Dan-181,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues upgrading your BIOS or finding the correct drivers for your AMD graphics card, follow the steps below:

Verify Your Computer Model

  • Firstly, ensure that you have the correct model number of your computer. BIOS updates are specific to the model, so double-check if you are using the correct update file for your device.

Update BIOS

  • Visit the Support Page: Go to the HP Support website.
  • Locate Your Device: Enter your device's model number to find the correct BIOS version.
  • Download and Install: Follow the instructions to download and install the BIOS update. If the issue persists and HP's site says it's not for your computer, verify the model again.

Finding the Correct Graphics Driver

  • HP Support: Visit the HP Software and Drivers page.
  • Identify the Device: Enter your HP computer's specific model to locate drivers, including those for AMD HD 8400 or HD 8600.
  • Download and Install: If the driver is not listed, visit AMD’s official website for legacy drivers that support older models or discontinued products.

Alternative Methods

  • Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update can find and install the correct driver.
  • Device Manager:
  • Open Device Manager.
  • Locate your AMD graphics card under "Display adapters".
  • Right-click and choose "Update driver".

Take care and have an amazing day!
