Pavillon g7
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have cloned my HDD to SDD to improve my notebook. This is the 2nd time I'm doing this. Previously it was GOODRAM SSD, now it is HP SSD and it's still not working. I'm using EaseUs Todo Backup to clone my disk and both times it showes error 0xc0000225. MiniTool Partition Wizard doesn't work too.

Hi:

Does the BIOS 'see' the SSD?

What is the full model number or product number of your HP g7?

Use this guide to find that info...

Hi Paul,

The product number is C0W11EA#AKD.

I'm not sure if BIOS sees SSD, hence I enclose several photos:

System Configuration:

And Boot Options:

I also ran the SSD on VAIO computer and there shows a message: "Operating System Not Found". I can't even enter BIOS.

I notice that you have not stated what brand and model the SSD  is.

The only type of SSD that your notebook supports is 2.5" mobile SATA3 3D NAND.

If you are trying to use an NVMe type of SSD because you read it is currently the highest performing SSD on the planet, you will be disappointed.  That is because it is not compatible with your notebook's system board or BIOS firmware.

Hi, @MarcinG

See if you can try clean installing W8.1 by using the W8 product key in your notebook's BIOS.

Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC, if yours is not working...You want W8.1 64 bit.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.

This is the generic key for W8.1 'Standard.'

334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT

When you get to the screen that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space. Click Next, and W8.1 should begin to install.

If you had to enter the generic key, manually change the generic product key to the W8 key in your PC's BIOS in the PC settings menu.

After you get W8.1 installed, and you had to manually enter the W8.1 generic product key, you will need to run the free utility I zipped up and attached below, that will show you show the W8 product key in your PC's BIOS.

I have also zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft tool which hopefully will transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so it is bootable.

Then you can install the available drivers and software from your PC's support page.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g7-2200-notebook-pc-series/5296086/mode...

If that doesn't work, I would have to assume the SSD is probably defective.

If you choose to use a DVD for the installation media, you will need to go into the BIOS, enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in order to boot from a DVD.

See this link for the settings to change.

Dear Paul,

I followed each step that You had reccomended me to do, but the situation stopped at quite common and not solutable point:

Obrazek.jpeg

It says: "No devices' drivers were found. Make sure, that the installation drive contains suitable drivers and click OK button."

Hi:

W8.1 shouldn't be doing that.  I think it can't find the hard drive because it is no good.

Anyway, since your notebook is an Intel model, I have zipped up and attached below, the storage controller drivers you need for your model.

Unzip the file and copy just the file contents of the folder to a USB flash drive.

Have the installation media and the flash drive with the storage controller drivers plugged in.

Boot from the installation media, and when you get to that screenshot you posted, click on Load Driver and browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible storage controller driver.

Click Next, and hopefully W8.1 will find the drive.

Following instructions, I got this first window:

And after unmarking that below, I got this:

Unfortunately, I've tried each of the options and none of those worked.

The first one in your screenshot is the right one for the chipset your notebook has.

It is now time to try a different hard drive in there...an old one...whatever 2.5" drive you have available.

My money is on the HP SSD is no good (since it didn't work in your other notebook either).
