Laptops with internal batteries, such as yours, often do not have RTC/CMOS batteries but use the Main battery for that purpose. What makes you believe you need to replace the RTC battery?

Hello Huffer, I'm getting an error (attached).

Laptop was bought 2 years ago but was never in use New. Main battery is not charging-dead.IMG_3113.JPG

Exactly. With a dead main battery your BIOS settings will be lost if you unplug the adapter. The main battery IS the RTC/CMOS battery so that is what you need to replace-the main battery.

Then I would think that  it should work without the battery but  on AC power, but it doesn't. It is trying to boot but I just get grey screen

HP Recommended

Yes it should boot without the battery but on AC adapter. Can you get past the screen shown in your picture with the battery in?

HP Recommended

No, just blank black screen,  it is on but Blank

Btw, when Laptop is off the light on charger plug is solid, when I try to turn it on it blinks

I'm confused. You posted a picture of the screen. The laptop in the picture has POSTED but hit a CMOS checksum error. How did you get to that?
