Hp Pavilion - 15-bc220nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP Pavilion 15 product Z7Y92UA#ABA that I have been using for college and gaming for the past 4 years now. Long story short I was originally on an older BIOS update (F.42 Rev.A) and had upgraded to the latest BIOS for my specific laptop (F.52 Rev.A) through the HP Software and Driver website about 3-4 days ago for an unrelated issue to try and fix it. Before upgrading my BIOS, my laptop would run all of my games perfectly fine with no issues whatsoever, but ever since this previous BIOS update I have been getting some very intense micro-stutters in all of my games like Dota 2, Rainbow 6 Siege, and even the newest game Valorant. I attempted to try and update as many drivers as I could through the device manager on the computer because I read in other forums that sometimes BIOS can remap the hardware and cause stutters while gaming. To be 100% honest I'm not sure if I updated all of my drivers, but I updated all of the ones that could be updated through Device Manager. With this solution not working I tried to attempt to rollback my BIOS to my original one and I am stuck and cant do it.

While on BIOS (F.52 Rev.A) I downloaded my original BIOS  (F.42 Rev.A) and attempted to install it  and this is what it does.

After this it tells me the installation is complete and the computer does nothing....  It is supposed to pull up another window like this......

but it does not. I cant even create a USB recovery because this screen wont pop up for me at all. I even attempted to try it on another computer but the same result happened...

Why wont it let me create a USB recovery or let me revert back to my original BIOS. If there is anyway to do it/help me create the USB it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Also I'm very sorry for the long post 🙂

@Gage430 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to rollback BIOS or create a recovery USB flash drive.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Start with a hard reset to release any excessive static on the PC:

  • If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

  • If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

  • With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  • With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Attempt to reset or recover the existing BIOS (if the recent update was interrupted): Click here

Step 1: Verify the current BIOS version installed and the correct ROM Family SSID for your PC

Step 2: Find the BIOS updates

Step 3: Download and install the BIOS update
