Hope someone will be able to help me...
I've owned this laptop since new just over a year now and the caps lock button doesn't function properly. I press the key and the light doesn't come on to indicate that caps lock is on, instead it locks my keyboard completely so I am unable to use any keys at all, it types a few random letters just after pressing the key then I lose all functionality of the keyboard. Pressing this key also opens up the notification pop up in the bottom right corner then closes it automatically and opens up another random pop up. The only way I can gain functionality of the keyboard back is if I restart my laptop, if they key is pressed again the same thing happens. I had 1 year warranty when I purchased the laptop through Currys but typically I am now just over two weeks out of that warranty and the keyboard is playing up...unfortunately Currys will charge me now to get it repaired which I don't really want to pay out for... Can anyone recommend anything that might fix it? I don't want to completely disable the caps lock key.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting issues with the caps lock key on the keyboard, I am glad to assist you.
Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.
Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here
- HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also, ensure Windows is up to date.
- Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Let me know how it goes.

I have done all the steps listed and it has made no difference, everything was already up to date, there’s no updates for the drivers or software etc, we did a component test on the keyboard in the HP diagnostics menu on startup and all the keys work fine until you press caps lock, it then shorts out the keyboard and activates a number of keys such as the apostrophe or asterisk or various of the f1-f10 keys, however it activates the windows key and esc key constantly like there’s a short circuit because they both flash as if your sat there pressing them insanely quickly
