Microsoft Windows 11

After updating to Windows 11, the SD card reader has stopped working so much so that the laptop hangs up when I open the File Explorer. The device used to work fine in Windows 10. The Windows 10 was sort of inflicted through persistent and invasive reminders by Microsoft.

Other users have had similar experiences where the suggested solution does not work:

Hi@T_ather,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing SD Card reader not working correctly after Windows 11 update.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Check with any alternate SD card
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
